SEEKING GRADUATE STUDENTS TO BE MEMBERS OF OUR TEAM

WELCOME TO THE DE ALBA LAB

Our research interests focus on mechanistic studies of protein function with an emphasis on the regulation and inhibition of inflammation at the molecular level

At the interface of science and technology, we apply the knowledge gained from these studies to engineer novel proteins and bioinspired materials with
biotechnological applications.

MORE ABOUT US:

Our overarching goal is to determine the molecular and mechanistic bases of cellular processes essential to life from a biochemical and biophysics perspective.

The de Alba lab focuses, in particular, in the regulation of inflammation and programmed cell death, with the aim of deciphering at the molecular level the origin of related conditions, such as autoimmune disorders, cancer, neurological and cardiovascular diseases. We apply the information gained from these studies to engineer artificial protein and protein materials with new biotechnological applications.
Our studies require a variety of complementary techniques that delve in the atomic, molecular and supramolecular levels, including high-resolution NMR, Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), confocal microscopy and optical tweezers, and dynamic light scattering.
